RUDYARD KIPLING’S MOWGLI: JUNGLE BOOK
The 1950s comic book adaptations
078: Volume 3, page 4

For some reason the writer of this volume has replaced Kaa with Bagheera in all of his scenes.
In the context of this story that doesn’t make much sense because the original plot relies on the
old python being able to dredge up knowledge from his century-long memory - something that a
panther obviously wouldn’t be able to do. Also, in the river scene that follows, the current is so
strong that only Kaa could resist it, so it’s nonsensical that Bagheera can. Nevertheless, for what
it’s worth, the change was made and we, the readers, just have to live with it.
